Top Beauty Secrets to Achieve the Perfect Perm Hair

More and more women are getting kinkier on a daily basis. On their hair at least! Today, we see the hottest celebrities and in-demand models strutting the streets with curly hair as we say sayonara (though not entirely) to well-ironed and flat locks!

What is a perm?

A perm hair is a type of hairstyle where the hairstylist sets the hair in curls or waves with a chemical treatment that may last for months and even years, depending on your hair. This type of process was big in the eighties and it’s getting enough attention today since Hollywood stars made it their thing and posted it on Instagram.

In the eighties, permed hair was kinkier and appeared in small locks. Today, hair perming can be achieved and look like one of the Victoria Secret models in their annual fashion show – big wavy beach curls that makes a great case of “messy hair, don’t care.”

Tips on how to perm hair

While DIY is cheaper than going to an actual salon, we still suggest you leave it to the experts! Perming hair involves calculating the exact amount of chemicals you put in your hair and once overdone, you may put your hair in jeopardy.

If DIY is your only option, ensure you know what chemicals to use which means you must do your research first. Here are a few items you need when getting a perm:

  1. You need a perming kit that includes a lot of perming rods, wrapping paper, tail comb (preferably made of plastic), hair clips (preferably made of plastic), a container for the chemicals (squeezable), gloves for skin protection, rubber bands, and a shower cap.
  2. Find a friend who will gladly do the hair perming for you because you can’t honestly do it alone. That’s just logistically impossible.
  3. Shampoo your hair before the treatment. Whatever happens, do not put conditioner!
  4. Perming solution
  5. Towels
  6. Neutralizer

Different hair perm style you might want to consider

If you are still uncertain on the type of curls you want to try, here are three hair perms you should consider.

Style 1

The Supermodel Waves

The annual fashion show where all the models of the moment walk the glittery runway dressed in lingerie promotes owning your body. With all the toned bodies and legs for days, we can’t help but envy what the hairstylist have done to their hair: perfectly set hair and curls that explains why Brazilians (Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio) have the best hair in the business. Achieving this include using a flat iron to achieve beach waves and brush each lock to look like you just got out of bed looking fabulous.
